Germany continues to strengthen its healthcare sector by significantly expanding nursing apprenticeship opportunities. As of March 2025, there are 147,100 trainees enrolled in the country’s general nursing program — a rise from previous years. In 2024 alone, over 59,500 new nursing apprenticeships were signed.
For the year ahead, Germany expects 22,500+ additional nursing apprenticeship seats to be available — a major opportunity for international candidates, especially from India. This expansion comes as part of Germany’s ongoing Skilled Immigration reform, aiming to ease shortages in the healthcare sector.
